About Us
FHCI's goal: to break all boundaries in cancer treatment
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute begins and ends each day with one goal: to make new strides as one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state. How do we continue to meet our goal? By providing our patients with a full range of leading-edge cancer treatments with a multidisciplinary approach -and leading the charge against cancer with the latest medical breakthroughs in detection, prevention, treatment and research.
We lead the state in numbers of patients
The FHCI treats more newly diagnosed cancer patients than any other health system in Florida.
- Our Radiation Oncology Program performs more than 200,000 procedures each year
- Our Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases provides specialized care for more than 300 children
- Our Gynecologic Oncology Center treats more patients than any similar program in the Southeast
We also offer the community's largest cancer research program
Within the walls of our nationally recognized Clinical Research Center, we are guiding patients through each step of treatment in the very same building where our expert medical teams are finding new cures. Our participation in more than 100 clinical trials each year provides our patients access to the latest treatments and prevention methods, including drugs not yet available to the public. Each day, our research program puts more people with cancer back on the journey toward wellness.
FHCI leads the charge in cancer expertise and technology
The board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeons who work with our Surgical Oncology Program are experts in the surgical treatment of various types of cancer. The FHCI is home to the first and only combined Adult and Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant program in Orlando. We are also the site of the highly specialized Neuro-Oncology program, one of few such programs in the southeastern United States.
We are dedicated to providing comprehensive care
In their dedication to making a difference in the lives of each individual, our care providers focus not only on the disease, but the whole person-providing educational, emotional and spiritual support.
And to ensure that cancer treatments progress as smoothly as possible, the FHCI allows easy access to your providers through our Cancer Care Coordinators, whose services are tailored to each patient's individual needs. These health care professionals are your advocates for quality care, working as your point of contact for diagnosis and support, rapid scheduling, second opinions, clinical trials, symptom management and ongoing education.
Our work has led to national recognition
The FHCI is accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In addition, we hold research affiliations with Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Comprised of distinguished cancer experts from around the world, the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute National Advisory Board works with our physicians and medical staff teams on program development, medical case review and clinical collaboration.
And in 2006, the FHCI was one of 12 community oncology programs in the country to receive honors from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, recognizing our commitment to improving care for cancer patients through increased participation in clinical trials.
We believe the best is yet to come.
The FHCI is continually discovering new ways to prevent and treat cancer as well as improve patient care. Until there is a cure, we won't stop.
