Florida Hospital Cancer Institute Difference is...
At
the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI), we are pushing the
limits of cancer expertise, technology and patient care right
here in our community. From our Coordinated Care Programs
that provide one-to-one support to our Nationally recognized Clinical
Research Center, we are guiding patients through each and
every step of their treatment in the very same building where
our expert medical teams are finding new cures.
Experience
The FHCI treats more newly diagnosed cancer patients than any other health system in Florida. Our Radiation Oncology Program performs more than 200,000 procedures each year, and we provide specialized care for more than 300 kids annually through our Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases. The board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeons with our Surgical Oncology Program are experts in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of various types of cancer. In addition, our Gynecologic Oncology Center treats more patients than any similar program in the Southeast.
We are also home to the first and only combined Adult and Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant program in Orlando as well as the highly specialized Neuro-Oncology Center, one of few such centers in the southeastern United States. In fact, Florida Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Hospitals" for Neurology and Neurosurgery for four years in a row.
Comprehensive Care
We
are driven to make a difference in the lives of each individual
patient we serve. Our care providers focus not only on the disease,
but the whole person -- providing educational, emotional and spiritual
support.
As one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in the state, the FHCI provides a full range of services, including the latest medical breakthroughs in detection, prevention, treatment and research.
Our medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and surgeons work together as one team to provide you with coordinated care. This team includes more than 200 of the most recognized and skilled cancer physicians.
We have also made accessing these experts as convenient as possible through our Care Coordinators who provide services tailored to each patient's individual needs. They are your single point of contact for nursing assessment and support, rapid scheduling, insurance issues, second opinions, clinical trials, symptom management and ongoing education.
Nationally recognized expertise
The FHCI is accredited as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. In addition, we hold research affiliations with Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center and UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Comprised of distinguished cancer experts from around the world, the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute National Advisory Board works with our physicians and medical staff teams on program development, medical case review and clinical collaboration.
And in 2006, FHCI was one of 12 community oncology programs in the country to receive honors from the American Society of Clinical Oncology, recognizing our commitment to improving care for cancer patients through increased participation in clinical trials.
Hope
We believe the best is yet to come. The FHCI is continually discovering new ways to prevent and treat cancer as well as improve patient care, and we're not about to stop.
Our Health and Cancer Risk Assessment Counseling Center predicts disease risk and empowers patients to proactively prevent cancer.
We also offer the community's largest cancer research program. Our participation in more than 100 national clinical trials each year provides our patients access to the latest treatments and prevention methods, including drugs not yet available to the public. Every day this is helping to put more people with cancer on the road to recovery and back to the journey of life.
