Gynecologic Oncology

Caring for women with cancers and pre-cancers of the ovary, uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes, vagina and vulva, the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is home to the most experienced Gynecologic Oncology Team in Florida. Each year, we treat over 600 women -- more than any similar program in the Southeast. In addition, patients treated for cervical cancer at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute have an 8 percent greater 5-year survival rate than the average for the state of Florida.

Our team of specialized gynecologists who are all fellowship-trained in gynecologic oncology work closely with oncology nurses, surgical and gynecologic pathologists, radiation oncologists, chaplains, cancer rehabilitation specialists, nurse psychologists and psychiatrists, oncology social workers, and dieticians to provide our patients a full spectrum of customized care, education and support.

Because of our affiliation with the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, our patients can access some of the most advanced therapies available. And we were also the first in Central Florida to offer the minimally invasive da Vinci hysterectomy.

In addition to conventional treatment options, our patients can participate in national clinical trials through the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG). These offer unique and promising new treatments for gynecologic cancers.
