The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute offers the latest and most effective treatments for metastatic disease, including colorectal cancer in Orlando for residents of Central Florida and the surrounding regions.
Colorectal cancer is one of the few cancers that can be cured even after it has spread to other organs. The most common sites of spread (metastasis) are the liver and lung. In highly selected patients, aggressive surgical therapy with liver and/or lung resection along with chemotherapy and possible radiation therapy can result in a cure of stage IV or metastatic disease. Each case of metastatic colorectal cancer should be evalutated by a multidisciplinary team of physicians that include surgeons specialized in liver and lung resection, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists specialized in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer, and interventional endoscopists and radiologists who specialize in treatment of metastatic tumors. Florida Hospital has a multidisciplinary team of physicians who treat metastatic colorectal cancer.
