The American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Status
FRi and Florida Hospital are recognized for meeting the highest national standards for breast imaging diagnosis and breast health care, including the American College of Radiology (ACR) Breast Imaging Center of Excellence Status.
American College of Radiology (ACR) Accreditation for Radiation Oncology
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in radiation oncology as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Radiation oncology (radiation therapy) is the careful use of high-energy radiation to treat cancer.
The ACR seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Radiation Oncology Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute has been accredited by the Commission on Cancer (CoC) through the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). This accreditation was obtained through an extensive evaluation of the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. The facility participates in postgraduate medical education in at least four program areas. The facility accessions more than 500 newly diagnosed cancer cases each year. The facility offers the full range of diagnostic and treatment services on-site or by referral. Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) Accreditation
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute's Bone Marrow Transplant Program is proud to once again be recognized for high standards in bone marrow transplantation and excellence in by care by receiving the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy's (FACT) accreditation. Since 2009, Florida Center for Cellar Therapy has held this certification based on surpassing the requirements set by international teams of cellular therapy experts that address quality standards in cell collection, manufacturing and administration. Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is one of two centers in Central Florida to hold this accreditation and continues to lead the way in cancer treatment.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers (NAPBC)
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute's Breast Program received certification by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers (NAPBC). This certification recognizes our cancer program for meeting the highest national standards for breast cancer care. Florida Hospital Cancer Institute treats more newly diagnosed cancer patients than any other health care system in Florida and this certification shows that our following and surpassing national standards and protocol. National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancers (NAPRC)
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute’s rectal cancer program has received a three-year certification by the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC). This accreditation was developed through a collaboration between the Optimizing the Surgical Treatment of Rectal Cancer (OSTRiCh) Consortium and the Commission on Cancer (CoC), a quality program of the American College of Surgeons.
The NAPRC’s primary goal is to ensure rectal cancer patients receive appropriate care using a multidisciplinary approach. To achieve accreditation, programs must demonstrate:
- Establishment of a multidisciplinary rectal cancer team comprised of trained and qualified physicians and coordinators
- Research on supported protocols and processes for rectal cancer care
- Data collection and monitoring to track and continually improve program performance, including care processes, treatment compliance and patient outcomes.
- Adherence to evidence-based procedures, including total mesorectal excision, pathological assessment, and MRI staging and reporting

Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification
Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) received the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) certification awarded for exceptional outpatient care. FHCI is the only cancer treatment provider in Central Florida to receive the three-year certification.
The primary goal of the QOPI Certification process is to encourage practice improvement. The QOPI Certification seal indicates that a practice benchmarks against national standards that are reliable and credible and also acts to incorporate standards and processes to safeguard both the practice and patients. A certified practice strives to better streamline policies and procedures and improve interdepartmental communications, especially in regards to record keeping and billing.

Florida Hospital has been recognized as one of the best hospitals for 2017-18 by U.S. News & World Report.
