Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is proud to bring the highlights of the ASCO Annual Meeting to you through its licensed Best of ASCO® meeting, to be held at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel, Lake Buena Vista, FL. Each year, the ASCO scientific committee selects the highest rated abstracts from the Annual Meeting to be available for licensed Best of ASCO meetings around the world. Florida Hospital Cancer Institute has chosen specific abstracts for presentation, based on the needs of our local oncology professionals.

Research conducted by Florida Hospital residents and fellows will be presented at the International Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) meeting.

ORLANDO, Fla., December 6, 2013 – For the second year in a row, research completed by Florida Hospital residents and fellows will be presented at the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) meeting.  This is an international meeting that occurs annually in February to bring together esteemed individuals from the Americas to present their novel research.

Garry Welsh honors his wife’s lung cancer battle by competing in Ironman race

 

ORLANDO, Fla., November 7, 2013- Garry Welsh is going the distance for Lung Cancer Awareness Month by “Tri-ing For A Cure.” The 49-year-old businessman is leaving the boardroom behind to compete in his first Ironman triathlon in Arizona on November 17. He is dedicating this 140.6-mile triathlon in honor of his wife’s courageous battle with lung cancer. He has also set a goal to raise $60,000 for cancer research at Florida Hospital.

ORLANDO, Fla. November 4, 2013 – Amy Perry is a survivor and a fighter.  After battling breast cancer twice, she joined Florida Hospital’s Pink Army two years ago in hopes of making a difference in the community and spreading the word about early detection.

Florida Hospital has been recognized as one of the best hospitals for 2013-14 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 24th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients. Florida Hospital has also been named the No. 1 hospital in the state of Florida as well as the Orlando Metro Area. This year the hospital was honored to be recognized in eight specialties.
