The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute provides a full array of innovative medical procedures — including advanced radiation treatments — that shorten recovery times and improve overall outcomes. Our elite radiation oncology team ensures that patients have the highest level of care and ongoing support throughout their treatment. Innovative treatments options include:
Brain & Spine Cancer
For brain and spine cancers, Florida Hospital is the only hospital in Central Florida using Gamma Knife® Radiosurgery, which targets and treats tumors while leaving surrounding tissue intact. No other non-invasive treatment method in this field has greater clinical acceptance. We also offer stereotactic radiosurgery for the spine.
For early stage disease, hypofractionation and intraoperative radiation are used to shorten our patients’ overall treatment time. We also utilize several innovative techniques that allow us to protect the heart during radiation therapy.
For patients with pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, or metastasis to the liver, we provide two innovative procedures. Stereotactic body radiation therapy is used for small, early stage tumors and reduces treatment time. And radioembolization therapy targets large or multiple liver tumors.
We offer MRI-guided HDR brachytherapy to deliver targeted radiation therapy to advanced gynecologic cancers while often avoiding the need for surgical removal of organs.
Our state-of-the-art procedure for thoracic cancer targets small lung tumors with three to five high doses of radiation.
We have a dedicated pediatric radiation oncologist combined with cutting-edge technology in a compassionate and friendly environment providing the most advanced care to treat children with cancer.
We offer erectile function preserving, nerve-sparing prostate HDR brachytherapy, focal MRI-guided HDR brachytherapy for prostate cancer recurrence after prior radiation, and SpaceOAR-rectal preservation for radiation to the prostate
We’re the only hospital in Central Florida offering these three innovative treatments for Prostate cancer:
